The 3B Scientific K13 human kidney model displays a microscopic view of renal structural and functional features. The model has six magnified sections to allow for detailed examination of the kidney’s fine tissue structures used in urine production: longitudinal section of a kidney; section of renal cortex and renal medulla of a kidney; wedge-shaped section of a kidney lobe, with three nephrons with Henle’s loops of different lengths, and vascular supply; kidney nephron, with a short Henle’s loop, and vascular supply; open kidney renal corpuscle, with nephron and light-microscopic transverse sections of the proximal, attenuated, and distal segments of a renal tubule; and opened kidney renal corpuscle. The K13 is mounted on a base for display, and is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic, which is corrosion resistant, lightweight, and has high strength. PVC resists reactions with acids, gasoline, alcohol, and hydrocarbons. Anatomical models are typically used as educational aids in medical and scientific classrooms and office settings.The model measures 7.5 x 9.3 x 10.0 inches/19.0 x 23.5 x 25.5cm (L x W x H).
