Product details:

The Sandvik Coromant R216 H13A metric right-hand uncoated carbide indexable ball nose milling insert has a curved shape and highest security (M) edge performance type, and provides a balance of resistance to shock and wear for medium roughing of nonferrous materials in average machining conditions. It is used with the CoroMill 216 ball nose milling insert holder, a screw-style holding system for contoured profiling, ramping, and slotting of 3D shapes. This positive insert has an M edge performance type for highest security. The curved shape with corner radius provides a very strong cutting edge that produces thin chips to support high feed rates. The insert has a hole in the center, two cutting edges, and a 9-degree side clearance angle. Milling inserts are coded according to their specific cutting and application capability (e.g., R216-10 02 M-M). Each section of the code represents details of the insert: right or left hand, compatible toolholder series, size, corner radius, and edge performance. Insert shapes and sizes may have different cutting depths, speeds, lead angles, and feed rates. Generally, as the insert size becomes larger, the maximum cutting depth increases. Cutting depth influences the metal removal rate, number of cuts, chip evacuation, and power required when using the insert. Indexable inserts are small cutting tools designed to remove material in external and internal cutting applications such as turning, milling, drilling, and grooving. They are held by an insert holder, have multiple cutting edges, and can be rotated when one edge wears down. Multiple inserts can accomplish a variety of cuts in one operation. An insert is either positive or negative, which refers to the rake or clearance angle at which the insert removes material. Sandvik Coromant produces tools for turning, milling, and drilling. Headquartered in Sweden and represented in 130 countries, the company manufactures tools used throughout the metalworking field, including the automotive and aerospace, die and mold, and general engineering industries. Matching Inserts to Holders These inserts are used with the Sandvik Coromant CoroMill 216 metric ball nose milling insert holder, a screw-style holding system. The CoroMill 216 is used in high-feed profile milling of 3D shapes, and roughing applications. The system offers high productivity.
